Ihor is a teacher at a school in Kyiv. During the first weeks of the invasion, when none of the security guards could reach the school, he took on their responsibilities.  He walked around the classrooms and maintained order. He noticed that the lights were off in the houses across the street—most people had left. Those who remained helped one another in the unusually difficult circumstances of medicine and food shortages. Ihor recalls the aftermath of the explosions in Kyiv, which he had to clean up. He remembers the needle-thin shards of glass that became embedded in the walls.
