The war divided Olena’s life into “before” and “after.” That first morning she hesitated — she didn’t want to wake the children, wanting to give them a few more minutes of peaceful sleep without war. But soon she gathered her entire life into a suitcase and took them into the unknown, abroad. Since then, Olena has existed between two worlds: in body — in Germany, in heart and soul — in Ukraine. Each of her trips home becomes a trial: on the one hand, the children miss their father; on the other — every time she must face danger. In this oppressive uncertainty, she holds on to the most precious thing — hope and the dream of the day when the family will once again be together on their native land, without fear and war.
