Olha is originally from Kherson, but has been living in the United States for many years. The last time she was home was on February 17, 2022, just a few days before the outbreak of full-scale war. The news of the invasion caught her overseas, and she says that experiencing the war from abroad is even more frightening because you don’t understand what is really happening to your family and city. Since then, she has been coming to Ukraine twice a year to be closer. The death of a close friend from Kherson came as a shock to her. After losing your home and a loved one, there is nothing to be afraid of. All that remains is a dream – to see Kherson peaceful, beautiful and tidy again, the way it was forever preserved in her memory.
