Olha Sovenko is retired, a former teacher of Ukrainian language and literature. The war caught her at home. She joined volunteer work almost immediately. A powerful charitable community was formed in Khyzhyntsi. At first, they collected food and clothes, then began weaving camouflage nets. During the war, they have made more than 700 nets of various sizes. Each parcel to the front is supplemented by the volunteers with medicine, treats, and warm things. They are used to urgent requests when they have to weave dozens of nets at once. Then everyone works almost without rest. Mrs. Olha’s personal contribution is 200 pairs of wool socks. She knits them at night so that the boys at the front can stay warm.
