Nataliia had no illusions about the threat, as she had been following the news even before February 24 and saw how the russians were preparing for war. Ukrainian military vehicles and large cannons began to gather near Nataliia’s house. The soldiers went out into the fields to fight, but the sound of explosions was so loud that plaster fell from the houses. Soon, enemy vehicles appeared in her neighbourhood. Two days after the war began, she saw russian infantry fighting vehicles entering her village. The enemy vehicles stopped near her house. Russian units entered the village and behaved harshly. They began searching houses and intimidating locals.
