At 72 years old, Halyna Akhmetova cannot stay aside — her son is at the front, and her little great-granddaughter is afraid of drones and rockets. Halyna recalls how her daughter-in-law brought her to weaving camouflage nets, how at home they bake cookies with cherries for the soldiers, and how she herself every day rushes to the volunteer center, putting aside all household chores. ‘Something just draws me here. Because how can one not help?’ — she says. And she dreams that her son will return, that her grandchildren will grow up without fear, and that the war will finally end.
