Kateryna has been displaced twice during the war. Her family is from Alchevsk, Luhansk region. In 2014, Kateryna's husband joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, went through the Ilovaisk cauldron, was wounded, and later joined Azov. The woman supported him by moving to Berdiansk, closer to his service. In 2022, fleeing the war, she was forced to leave home again.

In Vinnytsia, Kateryna found the strength to fight for her husband, who was captured by the enemy in Mariupol. Together with the wives of other soldiers, she organises actions to support prisoners of war. Every Saturday, the women come out with banners to remind society and the world of those still in captivity.

"A warrior's wife becomes a warrior herself. I want my husband to be proud of me when he comes back. We have been together for 19 years, and I want to wait for him strong. Sitting at home and crying into my pillow is not for me. It is my duty to speak out and remind people that the war is on," says Kateryna.
