"When the war broke out, Oleksandr volunteered"

Oleksandr Ivashchyk lived in Irpin. He was 42 years old. The man devoted his whole life to football. He won many titles, was named the best player in a number of district teams many times. Recently he played for Irpin BKZ.

When the war broke out, Oleksandr volunteered

"On the football field, Oleksandr was always an indomitable fighter, a true team player, had a strong character and fearlessly led his brothers. He was like that in his life as well,” – that's how he's remembered in the Kyiv Regional Football Union.

When the war broke out, Oleksandr volunteered. He delivered food, helped his compatriots to leave Irpin, risking his own life.

"He helped evacuate hundreds of people, especially the elderly,"
- said Oleksandr Markushin, the mayor of Irpin.

On March 13, Oleksandr Ivashchyk was killed by Russian bullets in Irpin. He had a wife and two children. His son Vladyslav, like his father, is also fond of football.
