Liubov lived with her elderly mother in Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region. The start of the full-scale war was a blow for them both: for her mother, who was russian by origin, it was hard to accept that the country she came from had come with war. Fulfilling her mother’s last wish, Liubov took her to russia, where she soon passed away. After burying her mother, Liubov was unable to leave for a long time, but eventually she returned to Ukraine. The final stretch — from the russian border to Sumy — she covered on foot. The exhaustion was so severe that the woman lost consciousness right on the road. Passing travelers helped her. Today, Liubov lives in a modular town in the Kyiv region. Her native Orikhiv is destroyed, and she has nowhere to return to. The only dream that keeps her going is to live to see peaceful times in a free Ukraine.
