Liudmyla lived her entire life in Luhansk region — her youth passed there, her children grew up there, and her grandson’s birthday was supposed to be celebrated there — on February 24, 2022. But instead of congratulations, the family passed a different piece of news to one another: the war had begun. Her city was immediately covered by shelling from “Grad” systems, and life moved to the basement, where adults, in order to calm the children at least a little, sang songs and tried to support one another. In April, the military evacuated Liudmyla with her family — staying was mortally dangerous. Today she lives in a modular settlement in Kyiv region and dreams of her own home and a peaceful, normal life she so wants to return to.
