A 61-year-old resident of Bucha died on 3 March in his own yard when he was going to the cellar to escape from the shellings. The man’s body was lying in the yard for over a week. His family managed to bury their beloved only on the 50th day, when the invaders had left Bucha, and the entire world found out about the tragedy of the city in the Kyiv region.
His wife Natalia wrote
“We have lost both our dearest family member and the home we have been building together for 20 years. I don’t know how to live on without you, without your hard-working hands, without your kind and loving heart... For all of us and other people, you have always been a radiant sun, warming us during your entire life. Now you are gone, and everything around us has become empty. When I come to the yard, to the kitchen garden, anywhere I go, it looks like Chernobyl, smelling of death. It is very painful and horrible.”
