Olena Bankevich

"I didn't understand: would we stay alive or not?"

Olena was carrying her son under her heart when the family came under heavy shelling of Saltivskyi massif in Kharkiv. Olena and her mother hid from the debris of the building. Her husband was caught in the street when two missiles exploded. They survived by a miracle! I had to leave my home and work. We moved to Dnipro. The joy of giving birth to a son was overshadowed by the diagnosis. The baby had hearing problems. He needed expensive prostheses. But at the most difficult moment, the family received the necessary support.
