For Marharyta, February 24, 2022, began with a call from her daughter. She had felt anxious the day before, but did not believe that the war would engulf the whole country. A few hours later, Marharyta was in Vyshhorod, with her daughter and grandchildren, the sky above whom was burning with explosions. The journey abroad was a test of her strength and maternal love. The worst thing, she says, was fear for her children. Now Marharyta says: my psyche is used to air raid alerts, and my favourite job gives me strength. She is a doctor, and every day she is faced with the fragility and value of human life, which means she has to keep living, helping and believing that there will be peace ahead.
