March 6, 2023 is a day that Leonid Ryzhkov will never forget. He drove for water and bread. An enemy mine hit his car.  He survived by chance. Shrapnel is still in his body. A friend's wife was sitting next to him. The woman was seriously injured - she lost an eye.

Before the full-scale war, Leonid had a large farm in Chasov Yar, Donetsk region – his parents' house, apiary, and domestic animals. But all this was destroyed by russia. The street where he lived burned to the ground.

Leonid moved into his daughter's apartment in Dnipro. In his history, there is the pain of thousands of Ukrainians who found themselves in the epicentre of the war. The interview with Leonid was recorded in the humanitarian hub. He also comes here for the sake of human warmth. Nearby are familiar fellow countrymen, with whom he is experiencing losses together. "I'm going to see someone alive," he admits. Leonid's biggest hope is his grandson Dmytro, who serves. "Every day I wait for all this to end...", – says the man.
