Oleksandr Benzeliuk, a 40-year-old resident of Toretsk, travelled from Dnipro to his hometown to evacuate his parents. There were five people in the car. Half an hour before entering the city, the shelling started, but Oleksandr and his companions were unaware of it. The car was struck by a second Russian missile strike,
which penetrated the vehicle and injured Oleksandr. Oleksandr suffered an open fracture of the femur and a bruised arm. He spent about two weeks in Pokrovsk Hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Kamianske. His recovery process was long and challenging. At first, Oleksandr could not walk even ten meters without feeling weak. He was constantly supported by his wife and children.
Oleksandr's family lost everything: their house and property. The costs for treatment and housing significantly exceeded their financial means. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided assistance for his treatment. In the future, Oleksandr will undergo long-term rehabilitation.
