Margarita Tkachova

“You know for sure that you will die anyway”

From the 14th floor, Margarita saw the armada of the occupiers breaking into the city blow by blow. How Mariupol is being shelled. Her survival resembled a post-apocalypse. Together with the cat, they wandered around the 14-story building. They made fires out of furniture. They cooked the surviving frozen chicken piece by piece. Margarita was overcome with fatalism. She accepted her fate as it was. She watched from her apartment as Azovstal fell under endless shelling. And then she traveled through six countries to return to Ukraine.”
