Since 2014, Daryna’s parents had been helping soldiers in a military hospital. That is why the full-scale invasion did not come as a surprise to them — they had been preparing for war. The family had a clear plan: to send the girl abroad, but Daryna stayed in Poltava and started working at a humanitarian center. Later, she headed the Youth Council, which supports communities in Poltava and across Ukraine during the war.
