“The Russians placed snipers around the school. And we were forbidden to come outside”

In Mariupol, Kseniia and her family hid in a boarding school for children with hearing impairments. The woman had two children, the youngest son with a disability. The child required attention 24/7. Therefore, Kseniia’s husband was looking for food.

“Fighting began on March 14. 2-3 tanks arrived at the boarding school. Lots of military people. First the Russians came in, then the DPR. Children were playing on the first floor. There were snipers there. Ammunition was hidden in children’s cribs. They asked how long we had been there,” said Kseniia.

Kseniia’s mother, Marharyta Mykolaivna, disappeared in Mariupol. Her apartment burned down. Neighbors said that at the time of the fire, the Russians were taking people out and taking them to Russian camps. Kseniia has been looking for her mother for more than a year. No results so far.
