Olena, her son and husband had been surviving Mariupol. They lived in Prymorskyi district. The first shell hit at 8 a.m.

"My husband found a radio set. We listened to the radio. The worst thing is the information vacuum. The first shot-up tanks on Flotska Street. The war was getting closer and closer to our home. We knew it was serious, but we didn't want to believe in it", - tells Olena, the resident of Mariupol.

On March 19, the family survived an air strike. And on March 20, her father-in-law died in the basement.

“I remember the state of cold. I still do. We were running out of bread. March 8. I saw tulips. It was scary, cold and dark around. And there were tulips around", - says Olena.
