The hospital in Mariupol helped both wounded servicemen and civilians. Families with children sheltered in the basements. On March 17, 2022, the occupiers started targeting the building. The evacuation began. Svitlana Sokirka’s daughter worked as an X-ray technician at the hospital. Svitlana had been helping her and the hospital as a volunteer since the beginning of the invasion. Her pregnant niece was also there. The medics operated on people under bombardment, the temperature in the rooms with broken windows did not rise above 3°C. They worked with little or no water, medicine or painkillers.
