Olena will never forget the day when life in her native Toretsk turned into a nightmare. The explosions left her apartment without windows and doors, the walls and ceiling collapsed in a matter of minutes. "I opened my eyes and thought I must be in the afterlife", — she recalls. After getting out of the ruins, Olena grabbed her bag and ran under the shelling. Shrapnel was falling nearby, but she continued on her way. She reached the basement where her neighbors were hiding. The conditions there were terrible: six beds, little space, everything shook during the shelling, but it was their only shelter.
