Oleksandr is a father of many children who had to go through the hell of war from the very first hours. His native village was occupied on February 24, and a week later he was captured and thrown into russian captivity. It would seem that Oleksandr had gone through the worst – torture, hunger, humiliation, and the destruction of his home. But the night of May 17, 2025, in Kyiv, where he evacuated with his family, is forever etched in his memory.
A combined attack: Shaheds, missiles, rubble and fires right next to him. During the russian shelling, he kept watch on the street and knocked on windows when he heard a threat, while hiding in the entrance. Fortunately, Oleksandr’s apartment survived, but there is no peace – neither inside nor outside. After all he has been through, he knows better: the worst thing is not the ruins, but the constant feeling that everything could happen again. And the biggest thing he dreams of today is not just silence, but real, final peace. For himself. For his family. For the whole country.
