Liudmyla remembers well the first shelling in Donetsk, but she had no idea that she would again have to hide in the bathroom. She left her hometown, fleeing from war and half-starved life, and had only just begun to build a new one in Kyiv when the war caught up with her again. On the night of July 31, 2025, a missile destroyed the neighboring building, taking people’s lives. Liudmyla says that she was lucky: in her apartment almost nothing was damaged, even the windows survived thanks to being open. Having lived through that terrible night, she does not lose optimism and believes – God loves Ukraine, and that means everything will be fine.
