Oksana met the full-scale war together with her husband, a hospitaller, who immediately left for service. She was left alone, and due to severe stress, she began to have severe headaches. She spent the first few days in a shelter, and a week later, having gathered a small group of children, elderly people and friends, she became a guide in the evacuation from Kyiv. They made it to Ternopil, where, thanks to acquaintances, they found shelter in a monastery. Volunteers met her group there. Despite the fear and uncertainty, Oksana took responsibility for the people around her and did everything she could to save them.
