Tetiana is a Kharkiv resident who lived in the very epicenter of hell — in Pivnichna Saltivka, a district that was among the first to take the blows of the war. Even before dawn, her home came under russian bombs, and just a few hours later the fighting was taking place right beside her. She hid in the basement, unable even to reach her own apartment. In whatever she had on — that’s how she left, together with her granddaughter, whom she raises on her own. The girl is an orphan, and for the sake of her future Tetiana moved to Poltava. Her heart still breaks when she sees the destroyed Kharkiv, and even more so because she cannot visit the grave of her daughter on the occupied territory. A missile struck her apartment, and the building is now under major repairs. Yet despite everything — Kharkiv remains unbroken. And Tetiana is grateful to Poltava for warmth and support, and she lives for the sake of her granddaughter — so that the child may grow up in a peaceful, free country.
