Maria was only nine when the world around her split into "before" and "after." The day before, she had a dream about the war, and in the morning it became a reality. The family left Irpin and hid in the basement for a week, listening to the terrible explosions and feeling that even a piece of bread becomes an unattainable luxury. Then there was the flight abroad and life in Poland, where the war drove millions of Ukrainians. But even far from home, Maria dreams of returning every day. She comes to Ukraine again and again, reminding herself: here is her heart, here is her future. Because, as the girl believes, the war will end, and Ukraine will have a bright future.
