Anastasiia has known what war is since early childhood. She was born in Sloviansk, and when the fighting began in 2014, she was only seven. Her parents protected her then as best as they could — and tried to do it again in 2022. Sensing danger approaching, they left Sloviansk for Bucha — but they hadn’t even unpacked their things when explosions tore the sky apart. Another move, another escape from war. The family heard the news about the occupation of Bucha already in Vinnychyna — occupiers had entered their home, yet somehow it survived. After the town was liberated, the family returned — to feel home again, warmth, and hope for a peaceful life without war.
