“My sister and I hid in the basement, waiting for my parents to come”

I am 10 years old and I am from Shchastia town. In fact, the town is small, and the houses are small too. There are very few private houses. There are shops, there is everything there. There is a water reservoir. I like the fact that my family is there, and my friends with whom I want to communicate. And basically, this is the town where I was born.

I think war is, I don’t even know how to describe it. It is very loud. It feels like you are in some space where you are uncomfortable. I only remember one day when there was a war. My sister and I were at home alone and my parents were at work. My godmother came to us and picked us up from the apartment. We did not close the door because we did not have the key. We left the door wide open. While we ourselves hid in the basement and were waiting for our parents to come. And then, when we came to the apartment, everything was fine there, nothing was damaged, and nothing was stolen.
