When the full-scale war broke out, Mariia’s mother from Enerhodar went to war, giving her daughter to relatives. They hadn’t seen each other for a year, and when they finally met, everyone was crying with joy. But the joy was short-lived: the city was under occupation, missiles were flying over the houses, and once the girl’s brother saw a missile from their balcony.
The family had to evacuate, even though the girl did not want to leave her home and family. They spent the whole day on the road under the scorching sun, in a car covered with blankets, passing numerous checks at checkpoints. Now they are in Zaporizhzhia, where it is also dangerous because of the shelling, but Mariia has only one wish: to return home.
