“My husband was mortally wounded in the head. I wanted to pull him out so that he wouldn't burn in the house”
Olha lived with her husband in a private house in Mariupol. On the morning of March 17, 2022, he was going to the yard and died.
“The first shelling, and the first missile at us. My husband was mortally wounded in the head. I wanted to pull him out so that he would not burn in the house. I took him to the garden and covered him. All the houses started to burn. The shelling continued. We saw russian tanks near the market. I and my neighbors, we hid in the basement of a furniture store, then I went to the russian military and said that I wanted to go home and look at my husband. They said they couldn't help me, wait. While I was waiting, my husband burned to death,” said Olha, a resident of Mariupol.
The woman buried her husband under a cherry tree near the beehives, as he had requested back in 2014.
