Liubov Sidun is jokingly nicknamed “Commander-in-Chief” by her fellow villagers in the volunteer community of Vysoke village in Zhytomyr region. In the first days of the full-scale war, it was this woman’s determination that lit the flame of hope. Without hesitation, Liubov accepted any challenge: whether it was cooking for soldiers at checkpoints or organising food drives. Later, she joined the process of making camouflage nets. She held scissors like a warrior holds a weapon. Her health sometimes fails her, but she is not one to complain. The volunteer says that great strength lies in people who are ready to support each other in times of hardship.
