Nataliia witnessed the fiercest fighting for Lysychansk back in 2014. Before her eyes, neighbouring Siverskodonetsk was turning to ashes, and then her native Lysychansk was being destroyed building by building. During the massive shelling, Nataliia, an artist by profession, painted to keep from going crazy with terror. Creativity was her escape from the terrible reality of deadly fire, loss of loved ones, fear and hunger. Nataliia’s paintings and diaries burned down along with her house in the city that was almost wiped out by the enemy. But despite everything, the war did not break the woman’s will to live. And her faith in a united and free Ukraine.
