Olena and her family left Mariupol on the day when one of the fiercest battles began in her neighbourhood. If they had stayed, they would not have survived – almost the entire neighbourhood burned down. When we found ourselves on the territory controlled by Ukraine, everyone was crying. Traffic lights, working supermarkets, clean water and fresh bread seemed like something unreal after three weeks of hell. The woman painfully realises that she will never be able to return to her hometown, the one that her memory has forever captured with love, so she now associates new dreams and hopes with Kyiv.
