Olena knows well what it means to live on alert — ever since 2014, her “emergency bag” had been packed. It was with her when she left Mariupol in 2022 — after a heart attack, the destruction of her son’s home, endless russian shelling, and the fear for her life. As they fled, they saved not only themselves but also others — helping in any way they could. Today, Olena lives in a dormitory of the “I’Mariupol” Center in Dnipro. She believes in justice, in returning, and in her hometown becoming peaceful again.
