"They shot at convoy of buses that was evacuating the families of rescuers"
From the first day of the full-scale war, Mariupol rescuers lived at fire stations, working around the clock. A married couple of Ahudovs was among them. Oleksandr and Nataliia are both rescuers, but Natalia was on maternity leave during the invasion.
She was pregnant and their son was only five years old. Their area was under heavy shelling from russians. And Oleksandr was rescuing people and clearing rubble somewhere in the city. Later, the Ahudovs moved to the bomb shelter of the fire station. Over 300 people were hiding there. There were almost fifty children among them.
On March 16, 2022, everyone there narrowly escaped death! People were transferred to evacuation vehicles ten minutes before the shooting and complete destruction of the station.
Natalia's worst memory: overcrowded buses and no seats. Mothers on the streets were begging to take at least the children! Rescuers were taking everyone they could. But at that time, no one knew whether they would escape from hell. As the convoy was moving, russians began shooting at it.
