Anatoliy Kazantsev has headed a department of the city hospital No. 4 for the last 20 years. When the first shellings started, Anatoliy didn’t leave his place of work. He was taking care of his patients till the last minute. During the hardest times of the occupation, under constant shellings, he took trips to the city, looking for water wells and the fuel for the generator.
The man suffered death on March 20, when the blast wave from the airborne bomb threw him aside. His neck vertebrae were broken, and he died in the arms of his hospital colleagues.
Anatoliy was born in Russia, but in 1986, he was sent to Mariupol where he started working as a children’s infectious disease doctor.
“My father saved thousands of children during his work. At weekends, on holidays, and at night — he never refused to help anyone. He practically had no days off. Two years ago, he had his first trip abroad, to Austria. After that trip, Daddy said he would find some time for himself, for his traveling. He dreamed of visiting the Prado museum…” — said Anatoliy’s son.
