«We want to live a normal life»

In 2014, we left for Zakarpattia region. My mother lives there. This is how we became IDPs. We lived there for two years, but returned to Avdiivka. There were a lot of problems here. The house was plundered. Our elder daughter and her husband live in an apartment. Their heating system and gas supply were broken.

We want to live a normal life

We have been living here since 2016. In 2014, we did not live here, so we did not hear these horrors. Everyone said that shooting was very intense here. Therefore, we did not return. We came back in 2016, and there was no gas supply. Sometimes the electricity supply and water supply are interrupted. It’s certainly hard, but we need to live on somehow.

We want to live a normal life

In February 2017, the fifth floor was hit. All the windows in our apartment were shattered. We then had window glass replaced in the living room and in the kitchen, but not on the balcony. We lived through the winter with the broken balcony. There is no calm certainly, because we still hear it. Thankfully, they do not target the town anymore, but you can still hear the shelling well at the outskirts.

We want to live a normal life

Most often it is fine, but when there is a thunderstorm or shooting starts, the children start screaming.

We want to live a normal life

We want to live in peaceful environment, to be able to work as before, return home and not be afraid for the children. We dream that it will calm down soon and we will be able to live a normal life.
