Yuliia is a Kharkiv resident for whom the war began just a few metres from her home. Her house was located on the outskirts of the city – exactly where the enemy was coming from. The first explosions woke her up at five in the morning, and a few days later, the neighbouring streets turned into a battle line. Together with their neighbours, children and pets, they hid in the basement, hoping that it would be over soon. But they had to leave. Now Yuliia lives in Kyiv, but she regularly returns to Kharkiv, where her mother remained. For her, this city is forever home, wounded but strong. Although the war took away her ability to plan for the future, she hasn’t lost her faith in it, nor her love for her native land, which she will never leave.
