The car in which I was traveling with my son Mykyta was shot from a machine gun in the spring of 2014 on the outskirts of Sloviansk, at a checkpoint. I still can't get over what happened. The bullet pierced Mykyta's body  and wounded his leg. Thank God, no one got killed. I haven't driven since, and now I'm afraid of driving like fire.

We still don't know who fired the shot, where it came from, or why. Law enforcement officers have been studying the case for two years, but the perpetrators have not yet been punished.

Mykyta had a surgery in Sloviansk and Kyiv. The fragments were removed. Now a scar is a reminder. To restore the muscles of his injured leg, Mykyta underwent rehabilitation.
