Svitlana Andriienko from Dibrova village shares her memories of the day the war began. She was on her way to work in Kyiv when she received the news of the outbreak of hostilities. She was working as a shift worker at a factory. She could not return home. This was the beginning of the longest change in her life: almost two months.

Svitlana recalls how her family was leaving the occupation. She walked to Brovary to escape the war. They were afraid that the occupiers would shoot them in the back.

After losing her husband, Svitlana found comfort in volunteering. She began actively helping others, feeling that it gave her meaning and purpose. ‘I used to come every day like I was going to work,’ she says. Making nets for the military became her way of supporting those who are fighting.
