“March 9. Maternity hospital. I'm on the second floor. There was a strange silence that day. When the air strike happened, I was lying by the window. I lost consciousness for a while. When I came to, I was covered with window glass and concrete. I was pressed against the bed. The sky was above me. My whole body was in pieces. I was losing blood. I was taken to the 2nd maternity hospital on the Left Bank. They performed a cesarean section in the basement. The baby was taken out dead. There was a direct hit to the uterus,” said Victoria, a resident of Mariupol.
On March 10, while going to his wife in the broken maternity hospital (he knew nothing about the tragedy), Victoria's husband, Vladimir, was hit by an air strike and almost died. Later, his leg was amputated. The couple met only a month and a half later in Donetsk.
