During the full-scale invasion, Svitlana survived in Mariupol with her 13-year-old daughter. At first, they hid in a private house, but there were no double walls to hide behind during shelling. There were explosions all around. So, the family went to Svitlana’s friend’s house.

“On March 6, a russian Grad hit the corner of the house. My daughter was sleeping on the second floor. There was an impulse. My friend screamed: “They hit us!” I did not understand what was wrong with my daughter. I was screaming: “Ksenia, what’s wrong with you?” All three of us rolled down to the basement. All the windows in the house were blown out,” said Svitlana, a resident of Mariupol.
