The work of the maternity hospital in Ivankiv during the occupation was a daily feat for the staff. Svitlana had no experience in obstetrics, as she is a psychoanalyst by profession. But from the very first day she went to help at the hospital. She witnessed women arriving at the maternity hospital on an inflatable boat. She delivered babies at night. She ran away with a baby in her arms from a pack of wild dogs. “Everyone who worked in the hospital during the occupation was a hero,” she says. Svitlana believes that this spirit, which is inherent in all Ukrainians, will help the country overcome all difficulties.
