Dmytro Dosuzha-Prokopenko lived through the war in Kyiv with his family. In February 2022, his father voluntarily went to the front and was seriously wounded a few days later: shrapnel destroyed the bones of his leg and arm, injured his neck and ear. He was treated in several hospitals, from Ternopil to Truskavets.

Dmytro stayed in the city. He remembers well the night when a downed Shahed fell in his yard. A fragment pierced the glass of the balcony, the wall and the wardrobe in the room where he was sleeping. The family didn’t hear the air raid alert, and only a miracle saved him from the tragedy.

Two younger sisters are growing up in the family, and during every air raid alert, Dmytro helps his mother calm the little ones.

Dmytro told his story during his participation in the Peaceful Rest for Children of Ukraine programme in Zakarpattia, organised by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
