Valentina Skopych

“We rushed out of the houses and started extinguishing [the fire]! People said, “There is a wounded woman there, in the cellar!”

Valentyna has been working as a medical assistant in the village of Shkneva for more than 30 years. In February and March 2022, the village was under constant shelling. Families with small children were hiding in damp cellars and basements for several weeks. The worst thing, Valentyna recalls, was when the little ones started to get sick massively. Especially the two babies. Medicines were in short supply, and the hospital could not be reached. Also, an elderly woman was wounded during the shelling.
