“It was a miracle that the only Museum of Theater Puppets in Ukraine was not dam-aged during the shelling of Kharkiv city center”

On March 1, 2022, the shelling of the central part of Kharkiv damaged the windows and facade of V. А. Afanasiev Kharkiv State Academic Puppet Theater. The theater is housed in a building that is an architectural monument and one of the city’s landmarks. The third floor houses the only Museum of Theater Puppets in Ukraine. The Museum’s collection includes more than 11,000 exhibits, including puppets, posters, models, souvenirs, puppet sketches, and theater handbills brought from many countries. Fortunately, during the shelling of the center of Kharkiv, the third floor of the Puppet Theater building was not damaged, and the Museum of Theater Puppets remained intact.
