Tymur Chumaryn, a surgeon at the Regional Intensive Care Hospital in Mariupol, had been saving civilians and soldiers under daily shelling and at the risk of his life until March 16, 2022.

"The first wounded - a soldier of "Azov", a Polish guy. His left arm was injured, and we managed to save it. We sutured veins instead of arteries, and he was evacuated in 5 days. The wounded civilians had explosive injuries, shrapnel wounds. I have not returned home since March 3. I lived in the surgery block. We were wounded every day, mostly with shrapnel wounds. A lot of children.

The first child was 5 years old. The family was under fire, their limbs were injured, and the girl was wounded in the heart. We tried to resuscitate her. Yeva was unconscious and unresponsive. I made surgical wound exploration. I said: "Guys, stop it, it's heart".

On March 13, russian soldiers entered the hospital. The Ministry of State Security of "The Donetsk people's Republic" (MSS "DPR") declared me as wanted. What else was I supposed to wait for? Therefore, I left with my family on March 16", – told the resident of Mariupol Tymur Chumaryn.
