The first shell landed at a neighbor’s house. Then at grandma’s. Together with grandfather, they came to us for a day. Then they left,” Aliona, a 14-year-old resident of Mariupol, recalls the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Together with her sister and mother, she first slept in the hallway. Then – in the basement. On March 16, the family was almost shot down from machine guns and a tank. The girl survived the fire. And in January 2023, she came under fire in Dnipro.
