“My wounded husband takes off his wedding ring, gives it to me and says, “Take it. That’s all.” In half an hour, he died”

Lilia’s husband Oleksandr died on 13 March. “He was wounded in the stomach in the yard. He was dying for half an hour. He was trying to hold on as much as he could. He suffered from very strong pain. He was holding on to the last. I saw how his eyes were fading. I held his hand, and it was already cold. I did not take my eyes off him. I realized that this was the end. He told me, “Hold on!” His internal organs were damaged. He was not breathing any more. I began to give him artificial respiration [mouth to mouth] and could feel his lungs filling up [with air]. It was just terrible. I understood that it would not help. I was told that he was dead. That’s when I cursed everyone. Everyone. I realized that I was left alone,” Lilia recalls with tears in her eyes.
