Larysa, a 60-year-old woman from Kyiv, was awakened by a phone call from her daughter, a journalist working in the United States. The sound of her voice, filled with anxiety, struck Larysa deeply. She heard the news that war had started in Ukraine, and almost at that very moment explosions rang out. Later, Larysa and her husband decided to go to their daughter, hoping to find a safer place. Their journey to the U.S. marked a new chapter in their lives, but the separation from their homeland was brief. After two months overseas, they returned to Kyiv, filled with determination to help. Larysa joined the volunteer center “Charivni Lastivky” (“Magic Swallows”). She still continues to weave camouflage nets, believing in victory and a better future for Ukraine.
